Practice summary
James has about 30 years’ experience as an advocate, adviser, solicitor and barrister. He worked as industrial relations practitioner in the Department of Defence and as a specialist industrial relations advocate for the Department of Workplace Relations. James also worked in private practice specialising in representing both employers and employees in employment law, contract disputes and administrative law. He joined the ACT Bar in 2012 and in 2021 returned to practise as a solicitor. James is a competitive sailor whose enthusiasm has been with modest success, so far.

Michael O’Kane was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 1994. He has worked in government and private practice, most recently as a sole practitioner in Sydney.
He has extensive experience in wills and estates, including Family Provision claims. He is also experienced in property law, residential and commercial conveyancing and commercial leases.
He is pleased to work with Macken & Company to add to the broad range of practical legal experience within the firm.
